What does a Nurse Aide I do?
Nursing Assistants provide direct personal care for residents or patients in different settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living, and home health. Shifts vary for each facility.
How do I register for the Nurse Aide I class?
After reading the Course Description and you decide this is the course for you, go to the Registration page and Register for the course.
Is the Registration Fee an additional fee for the course?
Yes, the Registration Fee is not included in the total course price. Call us to know more about the fee. It is non refundable
What will I learn in the class?
Students learn the basic skills used to provide personal care skills, i.e., vital signs, feeding, grooming, bathing, toileting, etc.
Is a high school diploma, GED, or college transcript required for this class?
Yes, a transcript (only) is acceptable because the curriculum requires basic reading, writing, and math knowledge.
What Immunizations are required for the course?
Students must show proof of Immunizations, including a Tetanus Booster (within the last 10 years), PPD Skin Test, 2 MMR’s or Titers, Chicken Pox Immunization or Titer, and current seasonal Flu Vaccine. Complete Immunization records are due on the first day of class.
Where can I find childhood immunization records?
Your Junior High School, Pediatrician, or the State Health Department. If neither of those facilities has your records, you can make an appointment with your personal physician or urgent care center to draw titers. Some titers take more than a day, so you get them days before clinical rotation.
How long is the course?
The Nursing Assistant I course is 136 hours for the Nursing Assistant I Hybrid. Days 4 weeks or 13 days Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday Weekends Saturday and Sunday for 7 weekends, Evenings Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 23 evenings There are 40 hours of home study, 64 hours of class room and 32 hours of clinicals.
Do I need CPR certification?
Yes. CPR is separate from the required (136 hours of training. Certificate must be from (American Heart Association and be within 2 years), you would still be required to attend the CPR training in the schedule.
What is clinical training?
Students go to a facility with a Registered Nurse instructor to practice the skills learned in the on-campus lab.
Where are clinics held?
Clinicals are held in different facilities in Charlotte. Usually, the clinical site is in an acute care hospital. Students may go to a long-term care facility.
Is Is there a payment plan?
Most programs require the payment on the first day of class. Call the office for more information on the tutition payments.
