This course introduces basic nursing skills required to provide personal care for patients, residents, or clients in a health care setting. Topics include communications, safety, patients’ rights, personal care, vital signs, elimination, nutrition, emergencies, Rehabilitation, and mental health. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to qualify as a Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.
This is a certificate-level course.

American Academy holds clinics at two separate hospitals and two separate nursing homes. In order to qualify for your rotation, the following requirements must be met:
- Immunization Record (Including proof of Varicella)
- Recent TB Results
- Flu Vaccination
- Hepatitis B Declination Form
- Physical Examination
- 12-Panel Drug Screen (done on-site)
- Background Check (done on-site)
- Hospital Orientation Form
Failure to provide these documents 1 (one) week prior to clinical rotation will fail to complete the program.
